MGS Apprentice Vacancy

Apprentice Machinist / Inspector
As part of our continued investment in the successful apprenticeship programme, we are again looking for apprentices to start in September 2018.
4-Year Apprentice – All aspects of machining – turning, milling, 5 axis, Inspection
Basic understanding of NC and CNC programming, reading drawings, Dimensional inspection, CMM programming and operation.
During Year 1 the apprentice will be full time at college learning the fundamental principles of machining a range of materials and tolerances.
From Year 2 onwards the apprentice will be within the business 4 days a week increasing their knowledge of machining specific to MGS. i.e. high precision, complex materials and both prismatic and circular components. The apprentice will spend approximately 4-month periods in the main sections with the final year being in the selected discipline of milling, turning, engineering or inspection. The apprentice will be allocated a mentor from within the business to assist with the learning and integration into the business.
Desired Skills
No essential engineering skills but previous experience within engineering or manufacturing would be an advantage.
Likely to show attention to detail in most tasks they undertake.

Desired Qualifications
Maths, English and ICT at GCSE
Future Prospects
Substantial opportunities for the right individual. Progress could include managerial / team leader position within the factory or through to engineering and sales.
Working Hours
Year 1 – Full time college – college hours
Year 2- 4 Day release – Shift pattern to be discussed at end of Year 1 of Apprenticeship
Total Working Hours
Year 1 – Paid 38.5 hours – Full time college
Year 2 – 4 – Shift pattern to be discussed at the end of Year 1 of Apprenticeship. Day release at college once a week.
Hourly Rate of Pay – Meets or exceeds current government guidelines.
